May Wedding Flowers
The first day in May traditionally known as ‘May Day’ marks the time of year when warmer weather is expected to begin, flowers and trees start to blossom and people celebrate the beginning of summer.
The celebrations originate from the Roman festival of Flora, goddess of flowers and continued through the Middle ages with young girls from village would go ‘A-Maying’, gathering flowers such as bluebells and primroses from the woods.
If you not so keen on wild flowers for your may wedding, you could go for a more structured seasonal flower such as the Allium, Echinops or Peony.
