Buying a Wedding Dress from Abroad - Part I

Searching for the perfect wedding dress can take up a lot of your time and effort but every Bride knows that it will be worth it in the end. Whether you have decided to buy your dress online or perhaps a second hand dress, there are plenty of options to find the perfect one for you and one of those options includes buying your dress from abroad!

Buying abroad could be similar to purchasing a dress online in many ways as you may not actually get to touch your dress until it arrives in the post. If you have seen the dress you like advertised somewhere abroad and you instantly thought that it would suit you then why not try this option.

There are many pros and cons for buying a dress abroad, these can include:

Pros to Buying Your Address Abroad

  • Buying abroad can be done quite quickly if you find the right resources so if a 'quickie' wedding is on the books this option will really benefit you.
  • Buying abroad could save you a lot of money, especially if you manage to find a designer dress.
  • Shopping from abroad could be a lot less stressful than trawling around the shops and trying on every dress under the sun.

Cons to Buying Your Address Abroad

  • Fittings for the dress are something that are enjoyed by the Bride and her mum or best friend but buying a dress from abroad could mean that you try it on just the once to make sure it fits and then it is worn on the wedding day, in other words, the dress is not worn as much.
  • Some Brides need time to get used to their dress but this option does not give you that luxury.
  • The dress you love might not fit when it arrives.
  • VAT and import duty costs may be added.
  • You have to rely on the postal system.
