"I was proposed to whilst sitting in the living room, he proposed just after midnight on the day of our anniversary of the day we got together" Michelle
"We flew out to the Maldives on Christmas eve 2006. The second evening, once we had settled in and unpacked, we went for a beautiful meal on the beach front. We walked back to our land villa a while later, where my partner Lee said I could then have my christmas present. Thinking I was going to be looking at a "brochure" of what my present was as it ws still being made in England, I prepared myself, how unprepared I was!!!
Sipping my glass of wine on our balcony, he sat next to me, and presented a beautiful box, which he opened to show a beautiful pear cut ring, just like Jessica Simpsons!! My perfect ring!! Followed by "Will you marry me"? Yes Yes I said!!! I couldnt believe how perfect it was. I had No idea. A perfect paradise island, a perfect ring, a perfect Fiance. What a lucky girl I am!!!" Kerry Dixon
"I was proposed to on a sand bank, at sun set in the Maldives." Amy
"I popped the question at a christmas party at my mothers on the 12th dec 06. I'd been thinking for weeks the best way to do it and finally came up with this!I dressed as father christmas for the kids and had a big sack full of selection boxes for them all, after giving them all out i turned to my girlfriend and told her i had one more present to give out! Got on one knee and proposed, her face was a picture! We plan to marry in Italy in 2008." Edward Atherton
"My birthday is the 30th October and last October my boyfriend threw a surprise party! This in itself was a very unexpected surprise and I was totally thrilled! All my friends and close family were present, the food and drink had all been taken care of and the house was decorated birthday / halloween style (my favourite time of the year)
As I was opening all my gifts my boyfriend called me into our kitchen were most people were gathered and got down on one knee, handed me a white gold solitaire engagement ring and asked me to marry him! I remember hugging him very tightly and kissing him not to mention shed a little tear but i don't remember saying yes!
Everyone cheered and clapped and somebody had been given instructions to start letting fireworks off!!! What added to the whole occasion was my dad knew about the whole thing as my boyfriend had asked him for my hand in marriage the weekend before which had been at my dad's 60th birthday - another family celebration!" Laura Neeson
"My boyfriend and I were on holiday in Kenya last March, the proposal wasn't a suprise as we had spoken about it before we went, but on the last few days we went to a jeweller who specifically made my engagement ring for me, I was so excited but we had to wait a couple of days for it to be made they were delivering to our hotel.
On our last day we had a phonecall from reception to say it was here so my boyfriend left me in a bikini on the balcony feeding the monkeys while he went down to get it. He came back in with the little pouch it was in which I opened and nothing was in there. Then I looked up and he was down on one knee with the ring and the moneys clambering around everywhere ! A very special moment which I will never forget. We are now looking forward to our wedding in Venice in May 07." Hannah Clement
"I was dating my boyfriend chris for a year and 2 months.
We live in new jersey and Bon Jovi is the ultimate. He is so sweet and will do anything for me. We went to 5 shows in 1 year. And on july 18 we went to the show in the pouring rain it was excellent. We go back again on july 19 to giant stadium.
Right after a beautiful evening of rocking out with my favorite band since I was 12. We were walking back to the truck when he comes over to the passenger sude of the truck and drops his keys. He bends down to pick them up and since i'm short I gave him ahug while he bend down. He said u know what would make tonight great. I sais what could be better then Bon Jovi he said would u be my wife??? I looked at him and I freak I saw the ring as he was still on his knee I walked away and I couldn't look at him then I went up to him and said yes after much shock and surprise I couldn't believe it. It could not of happened in a better place.
People were yelling congratulations in the parking lot it was exciting and fun and I love him very very much!!!" Denise Marie Niecie
"My boyfriend proposed to on our one year anniversary by getting down on one knee in the middle of a pack Italian restaurant on a saturday night.
He had champagne and a beautiful ring. He got the waiters to get the whole restuarant to be quiet and got on one knee. I went very red and whispered yes so the waiter next to us shouted in an Italian accent "it's ok, she said yes" and the whole restaurant applauded and bought us champagne all night.
It was very romantic moment that I will never forget. Although my fiancee wasn't too impressed that my response to him asking me to marry him was "oh my god, get up, get up! What are you doing!?"." Rachael Holmes
"We were 5 weeks in to our round the world trip and had just landed at our 2nd to last destination of Fiji. We were on a small off shore resort and had spent our first few hours sunning it when my fiance suggested we take a walk along the beach. The sun was almost setting and we were the only people on the beach. We stopped to watch the sun set and before I knew it my fiance was down on one knee and asked me to marry me, showing me the ring.
It took me a few moments to realise what he had just asked - I was so shocked and managed to reply yes but had to sit down! It was the most romantic moment ever! On top of which he had told his parents and my parents his intentions months before." Robyn
"I moved to Holland just over three years ago to live with my Dutch boyfriend Remco, and being the typical laid back Dutchman I never thought he'd 'pop' the question! However in October this year we took a trip back to my homeland Scotland where to my complete surprise my future H2B got down on one knee on a pebbled beach, pulled out a ring he'd had hidden in his pocket and ask me to be his wife.
What made it really special was how our friends were in on his plans the whole time and had taken pictures from a distance without us knowing, then brought out a bottle of Champagne and glasses they had been carrying about all day! The best thing for me though was afterwards finding out he had asked my mum's permission before hand, nothing like a bit of old fashioned chivalry! " Angela Lavelle
"I'm a nurse on a Children's ward and my now fiance is a Sgt in the RAF. My ward manager had told me that there had been an accident and the children were coming in by helicopter, so myself and a few others were going to meet them. Thinking of the children and the injuries they might have, nothing seemed unusal in seeing a RAF helicopter land on the heli pad, as they are often used in transfering emergencies.
As they came in to land I even commented on seeing two guys hanging outside the door of the helicopter, that "Phil does that in his job!" I didn't click until Phil was almost on top of me, he got down on one knee and propsed, I was so shocked I can't even remember saying yes, I just held my hand out! When he got up off one knee we turned around and both families & were there and all the staff from the ward who had kept it a secret for a month! Getting back onto the ward they played 'love lifts us up' from Officer & a Gentlemen and they made Phil pick me up.
On a ward full of women who love gossip, nobody let slip. We are getting married on Sept 27th 2008." Sarah
"My fiance proposed to me at his mum's 40th Birthday party! I got called up to stand next to him, and he said he thought he'd give me my Christmas present early, pulled out a small box from his jeans pocket, opened it and proceeded to get down one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so shocked, even though we had been talking about getting married for the past year, I couldn't stop shaking and had a few tears in my eyes!
Of course I said yes, especially since it was in front of his whole family! We are planning on getting married November 2007." Tammy Thomson
"After my original plans for a sunset / beach proposal in St Lucia were thwarted by mad locals and the weather, I ended up proposing on a verandah overlooking the lit up gardens whilst it rained outside. Furthermore, I'd just got out the shower and was only wearing a towel. Cliched it wasn't, that was the beauty of it. There was nothing planned about it and the sponteneity of it was a very romantic aspect. She said yes by the way!" David Rees"
"My fiance and I had booked a week away in Paris to get away and relax. On our second day there we walked up Notre Dam and then decided to walk all the way to the Eiffel Tower to see it in the evening. After a very long walk across the city we arrived at the gardens. Sitting on the grass looking down towards the Eiffel Tower was romantic enough but then when my fiance said he had something to show me I couldn't quite believe it when he produced a ring box which had been cleverly hidden in his jeans pocket!
I couldn't speak so he had to ask me for an answer as I had gone into shock, shaking and crying! It was perfect just sitting on the grass, no need to go on one knee and we couldn't stop smiling. We're planning to get married in summer 2008 and we can't wait!" Vicki Berresford
"My boyfriend proposed on a horse drawn carriage in Prague. Both our parents were on holiday with us and they knew what he was doing. They were waiting for us when the carriage ride ended - perfect!" Sarah
"Steve and I have been together now for about 7 years. I hadn't really ever thought about marriage until we were alone of a beach in Fiji and Steve when down on one knee and proposed. It was so romantic, but I kind of ruined the moment by bursting out crying and became very emotional as it was like a dream come true!" Gemma Hope
"Rob took me to Rome for my birthday in Ocotober where he proposed to me on our second evening there at Trevi Fountain, it was so romantic, I couldn't speak for a while as I was in shock, obviously I said yes!" Trudy Earnshaw
"My boyfriend (Jon) told me at the airport that we were going to New York for a week. On our first night he proposed to me in Bryant Park (behing the NY Public Library on 5th Avenue). The trees were lit with fairy lights and there were very few people about - it was beautiful. (He had origionally planned to propose on top of the Empire State Building but there were so many people there he decided against it!!) He had bought the ring before we left - a gorgeous pear-shaped diamond. I couldn't wait to get back home to show it off to my family and friends so I took a picture of it on my mobile and texted it to them!! We're now planning our wedding for August 2008 and I can't wait!! " Denise Hallam
"We had been unofficially engaged for a while. We had boughta ring and he had even spoke to my parents. At the Harvest Supper for church one Sunday evening I knew he was upto something but not that as soon as the meal was finished he would get up on the stage with the microphone and propose in front of 75 people (most of the church)! At least it means we haven't had to approach the Vicar as he was there. He even offered to marry us on the spot." Charlotte Haslam
"My boyfriend proposed to me this week after we've been together for 6 months! He lives in Newcastle and I live in B'ham so we can't see each other very often. Since i had a holiday from uni i went up to see him for a few days. He didn't do anything special and he proposed to me in his flat while listening to some really romantic music. however, it was the best moment of our relationship! he did it the tradition way and got down on 1 knee with the ring in its box and everything!
I was so thrilled when i saw the ring as it has a pink sapphire in it, and pink is my favourite colour! Then he cooked a special meal for me in the evening! It just goes to show that you don't need to propose in a romantic setting or go all out and be really extravagant, simnple is sometimes more special! We're due to get married when i finish uni in 2009!" Sam Green
"I proposed every day for at least 4 months till she finally caved in and admitted defeat in bed on 1st august this year. (it was in the lake district - if that makes it a bit more romantic!?) I was so shocked she finally said yes that i asked again the next morning." Mark Atherton
"I was going out to see my girlfriend and I was with my co-worker. We got to my girlfriend's Mum's house, and they all new what I was going to do, but my girlfriend didn't - but she new I had the ring. I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk up to the castle in Dundonald. Went up and had a walk about then we went to go and get a seat at the castle. From the seat you could see the whole of Dundonald, Troon and Barassie.
My girlfriend sat down, I was standing up, she was telling me to sit down, but I said no, then the next thing she new I was down on one knee and asking if she would marry me. Happily she said "yes"! I put the ring on her finger, a big diamond star ring, and then we when back to her mum's house where she began telling everyone about it." Christopher Warr
