Half Windsor Knot for your Wedding

The Half Windsor knot suits a standard shirt, it creates a symmetrical knot. Contrary to its name, it is not half the size of that of the Windsor knot, although it is smaller in size. The knot is best achieved using ties of a light to medium fabric.

This is one of the simplest knots to produce and it can be used for both cravats and ties.

How to tie a Half Windsor Knot

Half Windsor Knot 1

1. Position the tie around your neck so that end “A” hangs roughly a foot lower than end “B”. Cross “A” over the front of “B”.

2. Take “A” up and round behind “B” from right to left.

Half Windsor Knot 3

3. Pull “A” up

4. Guide “A” through the loop between the  collar and the tie.

Half Windsor Knot 5

5. Cross “A” over the front of “B” from left to right.

Half Windsor Knot 6

6. Pull “A” back up through the loop again.

8. Use both hands to tighten the knot and draw the knot up towards the collar.

Loosen the Half Windsor

To untie any of the knots repeat each of the steps, but in the reverse order. This is to prevent your tie from becoming distorted.
