I came to Rhodes to visit a friend, she took me to her mates bar, after 3 greek coffees i was dying for the loo, but could not find the light switch. This quiet, polite man helped me with my dilemma, five years later we're still together! I guess you could say we met in a toilet. And they say romance is dead!

Haha that's a fab story!!

I met my bloke at a mutual friend's 40th birthday party.

Apparently he wasn't going to attend, but was persuaded by a mate to come along for a while. Thank goodness he did!

He came over to chat with me once he'd heard me telling another mutual friend that I fancied him and that he looked like DI Burnside from the Bill LOL what was I thinking of!! Must have been too much alcohol. Anyway intrigue got the better of him and he wanted to know where the resemblance was, I can't see it now, but at the time I thought he was a double.

Does that make me a Burnside fancier? Oh dear !!

i met my fiance in the first two weeks of college were we met through mutual friends. some of his friends i hadnt dpoke to since i was 11 as we went to seperate secondary schools. it also turned out he had lifesaving work after my sisters swimming lessons at the local swimming pool, so we used to meet up early and spend ages talking about anything and everything. We officially got together on the 3rd October 2002, when we were just 16. weve now een together just over 4 years and been engaged nearly 10months :D

it also turns out that his step dad used to be my next door neighbour and his step sister used to babysit me when i was younger, his mum used to work in the bank with my mum, and our brothers used to play with eachother at playgroup when they were 5 (they're both 2yrs younger than us).

some people say it was destiny....i like to think so :D:D:D

I met my partner Ande on the internet 6 years ago.
We was both 16 - didnt met up mind till we was 19 (we are both the same age but i am 12 days older).

When we first met it was on a game called Counter-Strike - was only me and him on the server.
We played for hours and everyday after that i kept coming back on to see him, in the end i gave him my msn addy and he added me.
We then became best friends - thats all we could be, i was living with someone and he had a G/F.
We used to talk for hours everyday but ande was not the most friendly of ppl - to me he was lovely (now i know why lol) but to everyone else he was mean.
Anyway, when we was 18 i got sick of the way he was with ppl and lost my temper with him and we stopped talking - i had feelings for him but didnt know what they where.

But when i was 19 i started thinking about him again cause by this point i left my partner i was with and i had never stopped thinking about Ande - i emailed him - he emailed back and it went from there.

I had already had a bad time of meeting someone off the internet when i was 17 when i went to London so i told ande if he wanted to met me, he had to come to Liverpool (ande knew why he had to come to liverpool as he knew what happened to me - if you came read between the lines).

Soon as i seen him it was unreal - i had seen pictures of him and we had webcamed lots but seing him in person was mad.
He was 6"4 - me being 5"4 lol
I fancied him but didnt know how i felt about him but when the weekend ended and it was time to say good bye - i dont know why but i cryed - i didnt want him to go but he did.

When we was on the coach before he set off he txted me - it said "I have a funny feeling and i dont know what it is"
Few days after that - he txted me again and said "I love you Amanda"
Thats when i knew what the feelings where i was having for him when he said it to me first and now we are living together, soon to me married and are plainning to start a family after we are married (i am on the pill injection so having my last needle on 9th Jan 07 - so by the time its for my next one, we will be married and i wont be having it).

Life is great and i couldnt be happier.

xxx

Well life sure is strange! I also met my husband on the internet. I had been married for 27 yrs and he had been married for 24 yrs. We got talking one night in a chat room obviously both unhappily married but not really looking for someone else just someone to talk to. We chatted for hours every night for about 3 weeks he lived in Devon I was in Wales. We decided to meet up for a drink so he met me and we didnt fancy each other at all!!!!! We talked all evening and decided not to meet up again but to stay friends. The following day he was ringing me up asking to meet again, I was bored and agreed and we actually only met 3 times but fell in love. We left our respective partners and moved in together at his mothers house in Devon. We been together almost 7 yrs now and got married almost 3 yrs ago. Between us we have 7 grown up girls and they have finally accepted that we are together but its been hell. I wouldnt swop him for the world and although we regret the heartache we caused we dont regret doing what we did.
Take note....we do not go near chat rooms any longer, they've a lot to answer for.

I'm glad you found someone and that your families are finally accepting of that. My mum's partner has had a hard time from his kids (in their 30s) but they are slowly coming round I think (he's been with my mum for 3 years now). My brother and I knew all along that she was unhappy so we were very supportive of her new relationship, even though it hurt my dad, she is like a new woman and my dad is getting over it and doing a lot more things for himself now.
Woah that turned into a rant about my family, sorry!

Wow babethorn - Thats a lovely story.
Its nice to see the internet working so well for (please dont take this the wrong way) older people.

I hope you have more happy years to come with your husband :D

Everyone should have a second go at life i think if things dont turn out perfect for you first time around.

I was visiting my friends who live 120 miles away from me (I live in Lancashire, they live near Birmingham). After a night out we went in the local takeaway and I spotted this bloke sat behind the counter. I said to my mate 'He's nice' so she asked him if he was single or ###!! Thankfully he said he was single and not ###!
I was so embarrassed so buried my head in the menu. Then my friend asked me to stand outside with them while they had a cigarette. I followed him out and there was the bloke from behind the counter! My friend walked off and left me stood there, embarrassed!

We started chatting and I told him I lived in the North but visited regularly. He asked for my number and said we should meet up next time I was down.

This was in July 2004 and we kept in contact, txting, emailing, couple of phone calls. We arranged to meet up again in October and we became a couple! We then saw each other every weekend, one of us up or down the M6 every week! August 2006 he moved up here and moved in with me and 3 days ago he proposed to me in Prague, during a horse drawn carriage ride!

Long way from a takeaway - happy days!!

Hi
I met my hubbie to be in a night club in chester.
I had seen him a couple of hours before and we both caught each others eye across the room ( sounds corny) and I had a weird feeling
I was on a girly night out and he was with his mates...
The funny thing was I'd seen him going thru town on my way to work a few times and thought how nice looking he was once seen him out with a girl, who I found out was his sister...
We were inseperable from then on and I moved in with him after about a year.
I'm so glad I decided to go out that night and he says the same too, we both went out last minute so it's like it was meant to be...
We're still together nearly 7 years later so was worth it
:D
