Tell me why you have chosen where you have :)

We asked the same question 3 years ago so it will be interesting to see if there has been any change.

Registry Office (UK) - well IOM really but same differnce i suppose.

Not really religious to be honest, and costly to get married in church. And been married before. Only a handful of churches on Island will let you marry for 2nd time in church! :)

I think I've clicked the right option......Its not a Church or registry office, so i plumped for 'licenced venue UK We are off to the old mill forge, Gretna Green...

OK, so why there. We didn't want any fuss/guests so decided to 'run off' and Gretna seemed the perfect place to do this. If we stayed in Birmingham then i would have felt guilty about not inviting parents etc. The registry office didn't look very nice in Gretna and deep down i would have always wanted a church wedding.

In Gretna you can have a 'church' wedding (a religious minister one as opposed to a registrar one) in any of the venues, the Old Mill seemed the nicest place, less 'touristy' than the Blacksmiths shop for example.

So there you go, there is my 2 pence worth!!

oh and it cheaper to book a minister than it is to book a registrar (for some strange reason!)

I'm getting married in a church...i personally am not religious any more but my family is and I was brought up as a christian so it just seemed right...and it's more traditional....and even though you can get some gorgeous venues/registry offices sorta places I hate that you're in out and done within about 20mins....and as fun as the reception is gonna be, it's all about the actual service and saying your vows etc so I wanted more than that...so a big church with a 45min (ish) service it is. hehe :)

Licensed venue because neither of us is religious and the hotel seemed a great idea to save money - ceremony and reception in the same place!! :D

I got married in a licensed venue as Daz is not religous and I lost my faith 15 years ago so didn't seem right having it in a church

Church - various reasons really, important to us to have a traditional service, my family would have been gutted if we hadn't got married in church and although not deeply religious I find for some reason it gives me goosebumps (in a good way!) to be in a church, wouldn't feel right to us getting married anywhere else.

We got married in a church wedding in Spain. It prob would have been ten times easier to have a registry office in uk and then have a blessing in Spain without any family knowing it wasnt the real thing but i felt like it wouldnt be the same and then we would have 2 wedding dates (weird).

We choose church as hubby is Catholic and i really wanted a church wedding for traditional reasons and a few private ones. We decided to do it in Spain as we live here and felt like it would be cheaper and guaranteed the sunshine.

We are getting married in a registry office as neither myself of my H2B are religious and I dont think it is right to get married in a church if that is the case.

We also wanted more freedom on the vows and music to be more personal to us xx

We got married in the family church to respect our families traditions. I'm not religious but I respect the wishes of my family, I respect the view that the church takes on marriage and it felt right to have our ceremony there.

We've gone for a registry office, neither of us are religious and nor are our families. Plus OH has been married before and did the whole church thing then and didn't really want to do the pleasing the grandparents but not ourselves ceremony.

Anyway I really love the register office room that we've booked it is very beautiful and grand but small enough that our 40 people won't look lost in there!

Church for us. We're not really keen church goers, but do have our own beliefs - and want God to be a part of our big day. Also, our families expected it, and Im a big one for tradition. :)

Steve and I are getting married in a church as I always pictured it for my wedding day and Steve never thought he'd meet anyone who'll love him so he doesnt mind the church either

I also found out that the church we are getting married in is the one my nanny and grandad got married in 50 years ago this year so that is another nice reason^_^

We have chosen a liscenced venue for our wedding. It is a hotel. Neither of us are religious and so a church wedding didn't really seem of any point to us.

We got married at a licensed venue (a barge on the thames).

Despite having religious families, especially his, we went with what WE wanted and felt comfortable with.
Becos we aren't religious we had a civil ceremony. We didnīt feel it would be right to get married in the church if we donīt practice what they preach. We found it would be disrespectful to those who do. And, despite being a bit shorter than a church ceremony, ours didn't lack in content nor emotion. There wasn't a dry eye in our ceremony, so it certainly reflected us as couple and our feelings for each other. Many of our guests were religious who go to church regularly and we only heard praises on how personal and meaningful our ceremony was.

:)
