The new forum software provides some good options to help prevent SPAM :)

The main difference is that new members, by default, will nto be able to send PMs, upload images, add a signature, update or view profiles etc

Once they have made 10 posts they will become a 'normal' member.

This may be a pain to a 'genuine' new member - but it's only 10 posts :)

I think thats fair enough. I belong to a craft forum where you have to make a total of 25 posts before you can post images.

Hey Davide, I am curious that you are the admin here, I think it's girl talk here

He owns the site, nothing wrong with a guy talking weddings at all.

I mod on the same forum and although some new members complain about it, they defend the policy down the line as they recognise that it filters out the spam. The new members are also not allowed to post URL's and that see's a lot off before they start spamming as there is block in the programming that stops them being able to do this.

I think the restrictions are good. I used to be a mod on some car forums and it was annoying that people would sign up to post once about selling something.
