Hey hun - just noticed in your to do list you had making a CD for the church - are you getting married in a CofE church? I wanted my own music but we were told we weren't allowed because of copyright! x

Hey Steph
Thanks for the message, yes we are C of E church!
With ours, we had the option of paying for a music licence fee (wasn't very expensive) to let us play CD's of our choice (as long as they were appropriate, obviously!) Seems ridiculous, but we are paying it so I can walk down the aisle to this song
We also didnt want to leave whole CD with church in case we forgot it, and we are using it for rece[tion too. So church have said it can be copied onto a blank disc, but THEY have to do it from our copy, and destroy it after the ceremony, to stick to the copyright thingy.
Maybe ask about paying a fee for your own music if it's something you are set on?

I will dig out the paperwork tonight and see if I can find exactly how they phrased it + prices etc for you.
SIlly question, but as you're also c of E church - some people I've spoken to have to get wedding license etc, give notice... Am I right in thinking that since I am eligible to marry in my Parish, and banns will be read, that thats all I need to do? Had a look in the booklet they gave me, and it didnt say anything about extra paperwork required........

Sorry to hi-jack - we got married in a cofE church too and you don't need to give notice or anything like that. As long as you've completed the paperwork, yes, your banns will be read (in our case the 3 sunday services before the wedding) and that's it!
I assume this is the same for all churches anyway!

thanks guys, just sent myself into a blind panic and found the c of e wedding website - yep, just need to have banns read! WINNER.
It's so hard to know what the legal requirements are though - every single place/style of service is different........why do they design weddings specifically to drive us insane??

I did have a sneaky lil look for music info but it just said ask at the church, so will have a look for what they called it on our forms.
Having said that, a piper in the army chapel would be amazing

I know... I am feeling a little torn though now I may have the chance to change it. I wanted to walk down to Minne Ripperton - Les Fleurs which is just beautiful. Time for a think! xx
