Hiya Girls

Well we've decided to take the plunge after being engaged for near on 6years.
We're hoping to get Married next October or November (2011)- still yet to set a date, we were going for the 29th October, but apparently its Kels Grans birthday - which seems to be a problem with other members of the family (?)

So now im trying to figure a date as the next saturday is the 5th November or the previous is 22nd October - which im more swayed by as Bonfire night could be a bit manic - altho would love the background fireworks lol.

Not set fully on a theme, was thinking autumnal - we got together in October (2003)so kind of reflects us, but not sure whether to go for something more personal (we're a couple of ravers lol)

We're stuck with an extreeeeeeemely small budget tho, so will be interesting to see how we fair.

Its gona be a Registry Office wedding (set in gorgeous grounds tho so will make fab pics) and possibly the 'reception' in a pub room just around the corner, need to enquire a few places 1st.

Will add more as we go on :) am excited & scared at the same time!

Tracey

I've got to say the fireworks would sway me :P

You could mix your ideas and have an autumnal rave

I'm normally a very indecisive person too! But even though i've changed my mind on a few things (colour scheme and centerpieces, and flowers so far...) i've found i'm still loving the planning. I love doing all the research... :)

aww that's reassuring then hehe :)

Well Kels decided a Bonfire Night Wedding is a no no...boo lol, but the original 29th October is a go :) Just need to try and book things now yay :)

Apparently it was Kel who was worried about the date being his grans birthday (Shes deceased) and didn't want to step on anyone's toes so to speak, i told him she would love it & use it as an excuse for a party anyway :D so we're hoping to get 29th October 2011 now :D

Still no idea theme wise.

Food wise its gona be a buffet - tho i'm quite tempted to see if we can have jacket potatoes with various fillings as the 'main' thing - seems quite wintry (and i get something bonfire like lol)

Boo on the no bonfire night - but yay that your getting your original date.

I think having it on her birthday is a lovely idea, nice way to honor her and celebrate. We we're going to be getting married in Italy, and had decided Sept was a good month, and was going to have it on/around my grans birthday.

You said you were both rockers, how about theme it around your musical tastes?

We're not having a 'theme' as such, just thinking of loads of way to make it personal - and our indie/rock taste in music is one way we'll be making it personal.

Oh, and you've really made me want a jacket potato now...

I think it's a lovely idea to have it on his Gran's birthday too. We were originally going to get married on my Dad's birthday in honour of him - Jan 20th. After lots of research into going abroad, and with family considerations, we realised we couldn't get anywhere warm shorthaul in January! So it went from Jan 20th 2010, to June in Italy, to June 2011 Italy, then ended up in England. Sorry for waffling!
Liking the jackets idea too!

With setting themes etc I read this really interesting blog last week about a couple who planned 'back to front' in that they set out their goals for the wedding before deciding anything. I just thought it was quite an interesting approach. Link is here: http://2000dollarwed...-reception.html (hope I can post this mods, feel free to remove if not x)

with a wedding on October 29th you could go all out and have a halloween wedding! Or it could just be lovely Autumn colours, burnt oranges ect.

Hope yo get your date booked OK, then you can move on to the fun parts of the planning. Lookign forward to hearing it all come together.

Welcome to Chaos by the way,

Michele

Thanks girls :D

Well Kel rang the Registry office this morning and has got us penciled in for 29th October 2011! So scary its all real now.
We need to pay 20pound deposit on monday and then it will be pretty much our date...ooh and its at 2pm :D

Called into the craft shop in town this morning & it seems like it will be pretty cheap to make our own invites, think we only need about 50-60 i think :-s could end up more lol.

Im really set on the Jacket Potato idea, its something different isnt it? hehe :D Sorry for making you all want a jacket tato hehe.

Will have a nosey at that link, thanks LD :)

We're a couple of ravers & definately having some happy hardcore at the reception hehe - our 1st dance is going to be a hardcore song - it starts off slow, and then builds in tempo so should be a laugh :)
But will have lots of typical wedding party music thrown in too.

Think we're sold on it being autumnal colours, Kel is really keen and loving burnt orange..tho im not sure what other colours to go with it...Chocolate brown/mocha's or reds & yellows?

eee im waffling now hehe :)

Kel had some bad news tho :( He asked his bro-in-law if he would be Best Man & he said no :( that really hurt him.. but he's got his close mate to be best man too, and his mrs is my best mate and is gona be my MoH, and her girls with my little girl will be bridesmaids.
So need the 'theme' colour easy to buy outfits for, as im not sure if we'll buy the outfits or share the cost for the bridal party, so ideally i would like them to get something they can wear out again instead of just once, if that makes sense?

Sorry for waffling, my mind is racing hehe :) x

Yay, you have your date booked, how exciting! Your OH must be very disappointed about his best man, but he possibly has a good reason? Our best man pulled out a month before as he was getting in such a state over it, really very stressed out. It all worked out well, and he was still usher, but no stress!

Don't forget on the invite front you only need 1 per couple/family, so you may need less than you think.

Here are some colour ideas for you, to help you get more excitied:

Oh wow thanks Tempting, those colours are gorgeous, will definately be showing them to the OH when he gets in :D

i forgot its only 1 invite needed per house hold too - so that will cut it down a lot :D
thanks for reminding me hehe.

We're not sure the reasons, he never gave any - just flat out refused :-s Kels got his friend as Best man now so its all good, just upsetting that someone who has been a dad to him has been so blunt :(

We went to the pub around the corner today, looked at their function room - oh my... :-s
The pub looks pretty decent on the outside, but as soon as i set foot in there my heart plummeted, and the guy was pretty offish about it too & looked at me like i was mad when we mentioned Jacket Potatoes! Hmph! Lol
Kel wants to book somewhere ASAP, but i said i understand that, but we want to be happy with the place, and enjoy ourselves, not just get somewhere, just because.

So we're going to look for some other venues.

Wondering if a small B&B might let us overtake them for a night lol, if not theres a few more pubs to nose at & going to try and find a hall or something.
dont need anything too big as there will only be about 50 people.

W're in Nuneaton,Warwickshire hunni :) That would be fab if you could help, im so useless at looking for things for me, can help others no problem tho lol.

We had a thought lastnight, most people wont probably turn up, so was thinking of seeing if we can go for a Carvery somewhere after, seeing as its usually about 5-6pound per person, thats usually what it is for a buffet, or the quote for the jacket potatoes lol.

So going to have a look about and see who does it.

Then anyone who wishes to leave to drive back home can do,and anyone staying over, we can have a little party at home for the people who stay.

Does this sound ok?

We both dont really want a massive do, and we know quite a few wont turn up, so dont want to spend more than we have to, especially being on a restricted budget :)

You might be surprised by how many turn up - we had a naming day for our daughter and I remember thinking loads of people wouldn't come, but nearly everyone we invited did.

Anyway, have seen a few options:

Always a good idea to check out local sports teams, they often have reasonably priced function rooms. We're going with the rowing club, but we've also looked at the hockey club. Hope this helps xx
