Wedding Gift List Survival Guide

presentsWhilst at university I worked part-time as a Bridal Consultant helping couples compile their Wedding Lists. Unfortunately all too often a couple would arrive on a Saturday and the woman would drag her husband-to-be reluctantly into the department store. She would then proceed to ask him  his opinion on some wine glasses, his response would be 'eh' as he wouldn't really be listening, but rather be trying to catch the latest football score on the radio.

Their time in the shop together would inevitably end in an argument with the Bride-to-be feeling her husband-to-be was not being supportive enough in his contribution to helping choose items for there Wedding List.

To avoid this, here is a pain free survival guide to how to get the most from the experience of using a department store to choose items for your Wedding List.

Make time

Agree a time when you both can sit down together and discuss what you both think you should include on your Wedding List.

Make the list

When you have reached agreement make a draft Wedding List.

Make the Call

Don't forget to take your draft Wedding List to the department store

Making a list before you go to the store reduces the chances of you spontaneously adding to your Wedding List. Remember if you didn't include it in the draft list the chances are you did not think you needed it, in which case its unlikely you would ever use it, so don't include it.

Floor Plans

On your arrival find out which floors you will find the items you are looking for, this will reduce the risk of you having to revisit the same floor in the department store, and save you lots of time.

Time is of the Essence

Set yourself a time limit of how long you want to spend compiling your final Wedding List. After which time you should then treat yourselves to some well earned refreshments.

A Wedding List should take between 1-2 hours to compile, if it takes longer than 2 hours then you obviously should have read this article first :)
