History of Dundas Castle

This beautiful and historical 5 star exclusive castle was built in 1818 Century by Steward Clark who was the Great Grandfather of the present owner. The Dundas Clan dates back to the 12th Century when they settled on the southern shores of the River Forth.

It was James Dundas who obtained a licence from the Duke of Albany (who was the ruler of Scotland) in 1416 to build a Keep.  Many parts of the castle were pulled down and replaced with the now standing building in 1818 and was lost to the family in 1846 when it had to be sold due to the cost of the constructions.

Dundas Castle was returned to the family in 1899 when Steward Clark managed to acquire the estate of five farms and 1500 acres of agricultural land.
