The Stadium
Named the Theatre of Dreams by Sir Bobby Charlton, Old Trafford was originally built in 1910. After massive damage during the War in 1941 the stadium had to be rebuilt and was completed in 1949. Divided into four stands (North, East, South and West), the famous ground has been refurbished over the years and is now one of the most exceptional structures of its kind. It can hold over seventy six thousand people on match days and as well as offices, also included within its walls are:
- Megastore - one of the biggest football shops where you can buy football memorabilia.
- Museum - over two hundred thousand people visit the museum every year and take the tour. It was opened in 1998 by Pele and houses the Trophy Room where all the great legends of football are honoured.
- Red Café - a great place to eat and who knows, you may even bump into your favourite United player.
It truly is an awesome sight to stand near the pitch and gaze up at the thousands of seats all around you and the tiers above where the thousands of fans sit for each game. You can imagine the atmosphere during a match day and the adrenalin that the players must feel when they walk out onto the pitch.
