Robert Downey Jr, was reported to have tied the knot with his girlfriend movie producer, Susan Levin on Saturday.
Downey, 40, met Levin, 31, three years age on the film set of “Gothika” and were engaged by November 2003 after he presented her with a ring containing a rare African sapphire surround by diamonds.
The wedding was held in Long Island, New York. The guest list included the “Matrix” star actor Keanu Reeves and the musical talents of Sting and Billy Joel who were asked to perform at the ceremony.
Original plans for the wedding to be held at Downey’s friends Ellen Barkin’s Mattan estate had to be shelved as the location was leaked to the press.
Downey, best known for his role as “Chaplin”, has had a roller coaster movie career marred by drug addiction. Thankfully the actor his since got over his addictions and relaunched his career having recently starred in Dennis Pottery critically acclaimed ‘The Singing Detective’ and recorded a debut album entitled ‘The Futurist’.
Downey described his relationship with Levin in an interview last year with the Chicago Sun-Times: Levin “has inspired me to stay sober and drug-free...” she “is my soul mate and my anchor”.
