Barcelona Bans Brit Stag and Hen Boozers?
Barcelona, well known for its beautiful architecture and its pulsating city life may have sold itself too well to the beloved Brits. As Brits are now swarming on the city in the thousands, loured by the low-cost airlines and cheap booze for stag and hen parties.
The Mirror reported one Spanish police officers as saying: "You can spot the stag and hen parties easily because they always dress in stupid outfits or matching T-shirts with their names printed on. Most of them are in their late 20s or 30s, so they are old enough to know better.
"We get called out every weekend to the area. Drunken British tourists are a pain. No other countries behave that badly. It's a disgrace, really. I wish they would stick to the Costa del Sol."
Many Catalans now fear their cities once culturally vibrant reputation is now rapidly being tarnished by drunken loutish behaviour. MPs appear to be in agreement with the Spanish after the Common Public Accounts Committee reported that much of the Foreign Office staffs time was being taken up be helping “lost, injured or incoherent” revellers, something Diplomats are entitled to charge for but don’t.
It appears the laid back attitude the Spanish have is being tried and tested and perhaps even they might have reached there limits. So the British many well need to find themselves another city that offers nightlife and cheap beer.
