Billie Piper Demands Police Security at her Wedding

Billie Piper is causing some resentment in the town of Midhurts West Sussex by demanding a police presence at her wedding on New Years Eve.

Billie who will be tying the knot for the 2nd time is marrying fiancé Laurence Fox on December 31 at St Mary’s Church following by the reception at her ex-husbands Chris Evans local pub, the Lickfold Inn.

Former ‘Dr Who’ actress Billie has asked for local police officers to be present at the ceremony for security on one of the busiest days of the year for forces throughout the UK.

A police source said: "If the wedding is deemed a big enough security risk, it could be made a public order issue. That would mean local police officers at the cost of the taxpayer. "This has caused a bit of resentment in the town. Billie is demanding a police presence which she might not have to pay for herself."

It has been reported that Billie has already turned down multiple offers from worldwide magazines to cover the event because she wants it to be “an intimate affair”.

One local fumed: "For someone with so much money, it's surprising she wants to use police resources rather than hire her own security team."

Grumblings in the Village

Adding fuel to the already grumblings of the locals is the vicar of St Mary’s Church, in his agreeing to the wedding taking place between Billie and Laurence, after he has denied a daughter of the parish holding her own wedding in the church.

Aimee Vening, whose composer father J Peter Robinson penned the score to Tom Cruise movie Cocktail, was both baptised and confirmed at St Mary's, but was refused permission for her wedding by vicar the Rev Derek Welsman because she had moved out of the village.

Her mum Jane said: "Mr Welsman was adamant she couldn't marry in his church because even though we lived in the village, she had moved. We were heartbroken."

It has to be mentioned though that Billie and Lawrence do actually now live in the village since buying a £75,000 cottage a few months ago.

Billie and Lawrence who is the nephew of the legenday British actors James and Edward Fox have been dating now for 6 months and announced their plans for their wedding just a few short weeks ago.

Billie’s First Marriage to Chris Evans

Billie was 24 in 2001 when she married millionaire Chris Evans who is 17 years her senior.  They seperated after three years and divorced 2 years later.

They have remaining very good friends and Billie and Laurence attended Chris’s wedding when he married professional golfer Natasha Shishmanian earlier this year in Portugal.  The two couples have since socialised many  times together.

The towering Christmas tree within the St Mary’s church grounds is called the ‘Tree of Hope’ and this was one of the deciding factors that led to Miss Piper and Mr Fox choosing the church to get married in.

The spectacular views of the Sussex Downs and the Cowdray Ruins a 16th century stately home which burned down in 1793 and has become the most recognised landmark in Midhurst was yet another attraction that led the couple in their choosing of the venue.

This New Year’s Eve will certainly be a night to remember for Billie Piper and Laurence Fox!
