Billionaire Bride’s Father and the Groom Argue over Pre-Nuptial Agreement

The bride and groom along with 300 guests were left in limbo as the society wedding of the season was cancelled because the bride's billionaire father was unhappy with the prenuptial agreement.

300 guests at the million dollar wedding of the year were told an hour before the bride and groom turned up that the wedding had been called off.

Billionaire daughter Alexandra Fisher and Joshua Bailer a trader on Wall Street had signed a prenuptial agreement 3 days previously, where it was agreed that both sides would walk away with no payments if the marriage was to fall apart.

A dispute between father of the bride Jeff Fisher and the groom erupted on the day of the wedding regarding alimony.  It was reported that Mr Fisher wanted Joshua to sign a last minute ‘add on’ that if the couple divorced, Joshua was to pay Alexandra alimony.  Regardless of the fact that she’s rich in her own right and stands to inherit billions.

The reception was to be held at the exclusive Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida and three ballrooms had been reserved and decorated for the wedding celebrations.

Groom Tells Guests the Wedding is Off

The groom eventually told his guests that the wedding was called off and he along with his best man and 80 of the guests ‘partied’ in an adjoining hotel while the bride’s family stayed and ‘celebrated’ the wedding that never took place.  During the evening, all dressed in black, Alexandra made a brief tearful appearance on what should have been her wedding night.  Bride and groom had been dating for three years and engaged for 18 months.

The groom’s father Joe Bailer said: “We’re middle-class people with middle-class values. We came to Palm Beach for what was supposed to be the best day in the lives of two human beings, and ended up with two full days of crass negotiations for a prenuptial agreement.

It was like a business transaction. That attitude is foreign to us. There was such urgency on Fisher’s part, it bordered on desperation.”

Jeff Fisher who sold his Innkeepers hotel chaim for almost £1 billion last year was not available for comment.

One guest, 81-year-old socialite Rhoda Cole, said: "We were having drinks and hors d'oeuvres about 7 pm when Jeff announced there would be no wedding.

arried three daughters myself, and at my age, I've been to quite a few weddings, but I never saw anything like it."

Yesterday the wedding war went on between the fathers of the unhappy couple as they flew back to work in New York on separate planes.

The Aftermath of a Cancelled Wedding

It matters little who cancelled the wedding or in most cases, why!  It’s the aftermath that has to be dealt with.  The emotional and stressful time that is ahead that no words can take away the pain of that special day not going ahead.

The day that was planned and talked about for months, the hours spent sorting out guest lists, flowers, outfits, cars and venues.  Standing in front of bedroom mirrors with a bunch of flowers to see how radiant a bride can look on the day she walks down that aisle!  All now gone: burst like a bubble and the feeling of utter despair.

Two men are ‘battling’ out this problem! Two men who are both wealthy in their own rights, and who should both be thinking about the one woman who means so much to them! That age old saying ‘money don’t buy you love’ can be adhered to this story for sure!
