Bride Loses Five Stone for Her Wedding Day

All brides want to look like a princess on their wedding day, they want everyone to see them glowing and smiling and looking like they just stepped out of a beauty salon.  Whilst every bride is beautiful, one bride-to-be wants so ensure she looks as pretty as a picture on her special day and in order for her to achieve this; she has lost over five stone to date.

Jacklyn Monaghan is a thirty one year old mum of two who lives in West Derby.  After having her children Niall who is now seven and four year old Niamh, Jacklyn began putting on weight and ballooned up to a size 20.  Jacklyn admits to trying lots of different ‘fad’ diets in an effort to lose the pounds and while she did lose weight she ultimately put it back on again plus extra.  The constant yo-yo dieting and the fact that Jacklyn would eat late in the evening or even finish off the children’s dinners meant that Jacklyn’s weight didn’t come off and stay off as she hoped.

When Jacklyn was proposed to, she knew she wanted to marry her boyfriend Peter but was worried that her size would ruin the photographs and she didn’t want to be disappointed when she looked at the photos.  She turned Peter down so often that she worried that perhaps he would think she did not want to be married to him but he would have been wrong.  She wanted to be his wife more than anything but she wanted her special day to be one to remember.

Even at fifteen stone Jacklyn stated that she didn’t feel unfit but still she was unable to run round with the children as much as she wanted and her size affected how she dressed and lowered her self confidence.  Peter loved her for who she was and not her size but while trying on a garment one day when out shopping in the city centre she accidently ripped it and felt that it was time to do something about her weight.

Jacklyn joined the local Slimming World and one year on she has lost over five stone and she now heads her own Slimming World class at St Aidan’s Church Hall in Huyton.  She still wants to lose another stone or more but is very proud with her weight lost so far.

In February Jacklyn finally agreed to married Peter and even though she already has her dress she continues to lose weight so is holding off from having too many fittings to avoid alteration after alteration.

‘I want to look like a princess on my big day’

The wedding is due to take place in October and she knows that her outfit will make her look beautiful and just like the princess she wants to look like.
