31-OCT-2005 | Christina Aguilera wants charity-wedding presents
Pop star, Christina Aguilera, has asked friends and family to donate money to charity rather than showering them with gifts on their wedding day.
Christina is due to marry the 26-year-old music executive, Jordan Bratman, in a Christmas wedding.
They have sent guests a card along with their invitations saying:
"While we celebrate the richness of life and all the circumstances that have blessed us in career and love, we are mindful of those who are suffering greatly as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
"The best gift you could give us is a donation to any of the organisations helping the stricken citizens of New Orleans."
Christina has a number of charities to which she has leant her support including the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organisations, the M*A*C AIDS Fund and Missing Kids.
The general public often find it hard to sympathise with celebrities with the media often depicting them as over indulgent and selfish, so it’s refreshing to see one who is so grounded and socially aware.
We can only hope other celebrities are sitting up and taking note.
Everyone here at WeddingChaos wish Christina and Jordon the best of luck in their forthcoming wedding and hope that friends and family respect the couples wishes and give generously to those that are in desperate need.
