David Jason Wedding

The actor David Jason, bested loved for his role as Del-Boy married his long-term partner, Gill Hinchliffe in secret. The happy couple were married in a very intimate and romantic civil ceremony, amongst 12 close family and friends, held at Dorchester Hotel in London. Gill wore a long lace beaded wedding dress, while the couples four-year-old daughter Sophie Mae, 4, was bridesmaid.

If that was enough excitement for one day the couple went to Buckingham Palace the following day, as David Jason received his knighthood from the Queen. It was only after David, 65, had received his knighthood that the couple announced to the world they had got married the day before.

Gill, 45, proudly showed off her platinum diamond wedding ring for all the media to see and said: "You can call me Lady White as we got married yesterday."

David changed his name early on in his career from White to Jason.

The couple had first meet when Gill became a production assistant with Yorkshire TV in 1989.

When asked about the wedding ceremony Gill revealed:  it "was intimate and romantic. Some of the guests didn't even know. It was a very low-key surprise".

Before the couple returned to the Dorchester for a celebratory meal with friends Sir David, famous for his role as the loveable cockney Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses joked: "It's a long way from Peckham to the palace." When asked how Del would have reacted to meeting the Queen David replied: "He would have said `Stone me Rodders, we'll have to come back tonight, she's got some good gear here'."

Sir David show off the charm of the Trotters as he demanded money for a glimpse of his accolade "Ten pound a look," he joked.

Even the Queen could resist making reference to Del Boy after she had honoured the actor with his accolade.

Sir David told the press afterwards "The Queen said 'You've been in the business a long time'. “I said I hoped I hadn’t offended her at any time and she said she didn’t think so. “I was surprised that she watched it”.

Sir David Jason has given so much joy and pleasure to audiences all over Britain in his brilliant roles such as Del-Boy, Granville in Open All Hours, Detective Inspector Jack Frost in A Touch of Frost and Pop Larkin in The Darling Buds of Day.

From everyone at WeddingChaos we congratulate Sir David and Lady Gill on their recent wedding and wish them every happiness in the future.
