Husky Dogs Pulled Bride to Wedding

A dog owner jokingly suggested that his bride travel to their wedding in a buggy pulled along to the church by her favourite dog breed, Siberian huskies, and that’s exactly what she ended up doing.

Carrie Steel and her partner Damian Short who works in Kirkstall, Leeds at Bruce's Hand Car Wash have been a couple for eleven years.  They have five children together; eight year old Reegan, Liam who is seven, four year old Fiona, Findlay who is just two years old and the baby of the group, seventeen month old Kian.  They also have five husky dogs; Teekan, Wolfie, Troy, Maya and Raya as well as a Rottweiler called Sasha.

The couple are part of the Siberian Husky Welfare Association who they became involved with after buying their first dog Teekan.  They are big dog lovers and they consider the dogs to be part of their family so of course they wanted them involved somehow in the wedding arrangements.

Two Wheeled Scooter

Twenty seven year old Carrie and Damian who is thirty six, were married at St Peter’s Church in Addingham, near Ilkley, West Yorkshire in early June.  Carrie travelled down Main Street in Addingham to the church with her wedding dress safely tucked underneath her and onlookers stopping and staring at the sight as they travelled past.  It wasn't a completely new sight to many of the villagers as in an effort to keep the dogs fit and healthy, Carrie and Damian have a two wheeled scooter that the dogs are attached to as they pull them throughout their village.

Gemma Riley and Stuart Parker are dog trainers from Norfolk who provided the dogs on the day as Carrie didn’t feel confident that her own dogs were up to the challenge.  Damian was just happy to see his bride-to-be arrive unharmed.

The newlyweds commented that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and all their arrangements went along smoothly.

Siberian Husky Dogs

These dogs originate from eastern Siberia and were bred initially as a medium sized working dogs used to pull sledges.  They are now considered to be good show dogs and family pets and live from between twelve to fifteen years old.  It has distinctive markings which make its breed recognisable including its triangular erect ears.

Closely linked to the wolf, this breed is known to be stubborn and destructive if left to their own devices.  They are very intelligent dogs who like to test boundaries just like young children.
