McDonald's Lottery Winners have their Dream Wedding

Winning 1.3m on the national lottery last year certainly helped Emma Cox and Luke Pittard hold their dream wedding without the need to scrimp or save.

Emma a former £16,000-a-year area manager and Luke £12,000-a-year staff trainer met 4 years ago while working at the McDonalds burger bar in Pontprennau, Cardiff and they have a 2 year old daughter Chloe.

The £20,000 wedding an all white theme was held at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff where all the guests were dressed in white outfits courtesy of the millionaire couple.
Smoked Salmon and roast lamb were served at the wedding feast and the champagne flowed freely for their 150 family and friends.

Emma said “it was fantastic.  It was all a girl could wish for and I couldn’t have been happier. This was something which would have been unbelievable if it hadn’t been for winning the lottery.”

A two month holiday and the purchase of a £200.000 four-bedroom house in Pengam Green, Cardiff is two more luxury items they would not have been able to buy without the 1.3m lottery win.

They had originally stated when winning the money that they would not be giving up work and even looked for and brought their house near to the burger bar to enable them to walk to work since neither one of them don’t drive: Although while on their dream luxury holiday they decided to quit as they thought the work was “a bit dull”.

Emma and Luke had been living 6 miles apart with their parents and their daughter shared her time between them.  Luke said “We just want to be a normal family like everyone else”.

Checking the Winning Ticket

On the day they won, Emma found a money spider on her hand and told one of the girls that she was going to win the lottery that night! On checking the ticket, she had the first 3 numbers and thought she had won £10, until the next three came up.  She said “I was looking at the ticket thinking, no, it’s not real".

Luke who was having a busy day at work did not believe it when Lucy rang him to tell him. He said his first reaction was that she was lying and that he didn’t have time for this now, and then carried on working.

Emma’s mother Marilyn said “They are a lovely couple and it couldn’t have happen to two nicer people. They are enjoying their lottery winnings.”
24-year-old Luke said: “It took a lot of planning but it was what Emma wanted. It was worth every penny. I was quite calm until I saw her walking down the aisle and then I just melted.

The couple will be making plans to go on their honeymoon next year which they say is going to be a cruise.

This is one couple that can safely say that ‘Their ship has come in’!!
