Wedding Bells at Last for Nicole Kidman
Last Sunday saw one of the most eagerly awaited Hollywood weddings finally take place. The star of Moulin Rouge, Nicole Kidman married Keith Urban, the Austrian country music singer.
Nicole arrived at the clifftop Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Manly, Sydney, in a vintage Rolls Royce accompanied by proud father Antony.
A veiled Nicole wore a white couture gown from Balenciaga and carried a bouquet of white roses.
Nicole’s two adopted children had an important role to play as Isabella, 13 and Connor, 11 were bridesmaid and usher while Nicole’s sister Antonia was Matron of Honour.
The couple had a traditional Catholic service lasting 90 minutes after which time the bells in the Chapel were rung out in celebration.
The newly proclaimed Mr and Mrs Urban treated their guests to a marquee reception in the grounds of St. Patrick’s College where the chapel resided.
The reception was a modest affair by Hollywood standards with around 230 close friends and family, and a scattering of A-list stars in attendance. Some of Australia’s finest stars including “X-Men” star Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, star of “King Kong”, Wendi Murdoch and Australia’s very own gladiator Russell Crowe.
Singer-actor, Hugh Jackman was in fine voice after his recent success in the New York stage show The Boy from Oz, as he performed the Australian classic, Tenterfield Saddle, for the happy couple.
However it was the Grammy award winning groom who stole the show as he serenaded his beautiful bride with his own song “Memories of Us”.
The media are currently speculating the happy couple will be jetting off to either Fiji or Bora Bora on their honeymoon, and on their return home to live happy as Mr and Mrs Urban at Keith’s home in Nashville, Tennese.
