Superman Weds his Superwoman

There was no place for kryptonite at the wedding of Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford on Saturday 24th November.

The ‘Superman’ actor Brandon married his girlfriend of four years actress Courtney at the 3,000-acre El Capitan Ranch of movie producers Jon and Mindy Peters at Santa Barbara’s in front of 150 guests consisting of friends and family.

Courtney was dressed in a Junko Yoshioka sheath dress with Chantilly lace and Platinum beading.  There was no sign of a cape or wearing his underpants over the trousers of his cashmere suit when Brandon said ‘I do’.

The reception was held at the ranch in a large white marquee where the décor was bamboo furniture with candles and red rose petals scattered on each table.  They had a six-tier vanilla wedding cake decorated with red roses along with a donut machine.

Mindy Peters told Cheryl Woodcock of The Insider that she and Jon had done a £1 million ranch overhaul for the bid day, including a man-made lake, rock walls and waterfalls, as well as fountains that spouted water on cue when Routh heard the words ‘you may now kiss your bride’!  A firework display marked the union.

The wedding was coordinated by Katie Tiffany who said “Even though it cooled off in the evening, I could only feel the warmth and love in this breath-taking setting”.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was among the guests and it has been reported that he had sealed the airspace around the ranch to give the couple more privacy on their special day.  Other guests included Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Ashley Olsen, Warner Bros. President Alan Horn and Director Bryan Singer.

Superman on his Knees

It was during the promotional tour of ‘Superman Returns’ last August in Glastonbury, that Brandon 28, proposed to Courtney 29, when he was quoted as saying “Courtney is my own personal kryptonite. She brings me to my knees”.

He told the People newspaper in January “I was a bartender and her brother was having his wedding rehearsal dinner party there” Courtney said “He met my whole family the day he met me”

Supermen, they say, are hard to come by these days, and it must take a man of steel to be thrown in at the deep end to meet his future bride’s whole family at the same time!

The pair, who told the People they like to watch DVDs – particularly the special features – together, were apart for five months while Routh was shooting Superman Returns in Australia, but Ford says they relied on "nightly phone calls" to remain close.
