Wedding Photos Lead to Jail Time for Facebook User
A man was jailed for sending his ex-wife wedding pictures.
Dylon Osborn, 37, had joined the social networking website Facebook. The site then sent an automatic ‘friend request’ to everyone on his mailing lists including his former wife, Claire Tarbox.
The couple who have an 8-year-old daughter have been divorced for 3 years. Magistrates had ordered Osborn not to contact Tarbox after she had been granted an injunction following Osborn hounding his estranged wife with phone calls and text messages.
Osborn was arrested for breaching his bail conditions and was ordered to serve 10 days in prison. He was released after serving 7 days of his sentence, following a plea from his solicitor.
The Telegraph reported Osborn to have said: “I certainly hadn’t intended to contact my wife... I didn’t even know she had a Facebook account. To be honest, I don’t think the judge understood how it works either.”
Osborn went on to warn “People on Facebook should be careful - this could easily happen to someone else.”
With online privacy a bigger issue than ever it is quite shocking to see how your information can be spread around without any understanding of just what is happening. Be careful out there is our advice!
