Welcome To Our Newsletter

Welcome to the second edition of the Wedding Chaos newsletter.

This edition we take a closer look at artificial flowers, getting married in Gretna Green, going to the loo in a wedding dress, who pays for the wedding and we find out how the wedding went for forum member Ally and her new husband Neil.

If you subscribe to the Which? Weekly Newsletter you would have noticed that WeddingChaos.co.uk was the 'Website of the Week' for this week :)

Gretna Green Weddings

Gretna Green - we have all heard of it, it's that place up North, just like Las Vegas, where you can turn up with your passport and a few pounds in your pocket, pay your fee, fill in a bit of paperwork and hey presto, quicker than you can say 'Viva Las Vegas', (or should that be 'Letter From America') you are man and wife.

That was true up until 1940 when the laws were changed and from that point on marriages had to be conducted in a more 'official' manner..... the Anvil Priests were no more!

Take a look at our article about Gretna Green here.

Forum member Jenny is planning her wedding at Gretna Green, read her story so far here.

Advice Spotlight

silk flowersThis issue we take a look at the not so thorny issue of artificial, or as they are more commonly named, silk, flowers. However, the term 'silk flowers' is not really a very accurate description as artificial flowers can be made from a wide range of materials, not just silk.

Do you know what rayon is? Neither did we until we did our research, but now of course we know it is a manufactured regenerated cellulosic fiber. OK, I promise there is no more science in the article - take a read for yourself.

Wedding Poll - Results

A short while ago we ran a poll on the Wedding Chaos website, we asked who was paying for your wedding, here are the results :

      1. Bride and Groom - 64.5%
      2. Brides Parents - 17.7%
      3. All Parents - 13.3%
      4. Grooms Parents - 2.4%
      5. Somebody Else -2.1%

If you want to read Katherine's write up of these results you can do so back on our website.

Competition Time!

silk flowersWe have 5 copies of 'Taking the Plunge' by Stacie Lewis to give away. Closing date midnight Sunday 30th Sep. More information on this book from the publishers website here.

The advert was on a ____ ______

And fill in the blank with the answer. If you are one of the lucky winners we will contact you on the following Monday to get your name and address.

The question is : Geraint Evans recently found the love of his life by placing a lonely hearts advert where? For a clue you could always check out the news section of WeddingChaos....

Tip of the Issue

"How do I go to the loo in my dress?!" A question forum member Sherrie has been asked a few times... her response - "Well a tried and tested method is to go into the loo forwards and sit on the loo, facing the wall so that you can leave the door open and your dress will trail behind you!!"

You can read other suggestions for overcoming this hurdle back at the forums.

Forum Weddings - New Feature

ally and neilWe have launched a new feature over at the WeddingChaos site - it's called erm, um, ah - not sure yet... perhaps Perfect Day, or Perfect Nightmare? Basically we take the story of a wedding and upload it onto the site to be shared with everybody.. the build up, the day and maybe a bit after..

We are launching the fantastic new [insert name of your choice] feature with the story of Ally and Neil (most definitely not a nightmare!), married 29th July 2007. Many of you will know Ally as one of our longest participating forum members.

You can read the all about Ally's wedding here.

If you have a suggestion for a name for this feature, let us know on our forums here.

And Finally...

Well, that was it - our second edition. We have tried to incorporate some of your suggestions following the debut edition, and like before, I would welcome your comments, positive or negative (as long as constructive), so please let me me know, either by reply, or via the forum here.
