Wedding chaos newsletter

This edition we take a closer look at more wedding superstitions and traditions, having a Spring or Easter themed wedding, the Queens Diamond Wedding Anniversary, and we find out how the wedding went for our forum member Caroline and her new husband Andy.

A couple of competitions this edition, one to win a handmade tiara from Truly Tempting and a chance to win a box of chocolates with our word search puzzle.

This edition is sponsored by Cruickshank's Cakes, specialists in wedding and celebration cakes. Please take a moment to visit their website to contact Trevor for options and prices for your wedding or celebration cake.

Traditions or Superstitions?

knight in armourPart III of Wedding Traditions or Just Superstitions takes a look at a few more wedding traditions and superstitions.

Have you ever wondered why you have a Stag or Hen Party? Why do people have bridesmaids? What is the point of the Best Man?

Did you realise that these roles are born from superstition (or is it just tradition?)

If you would like answer to these, and other reasons for the roles people have at a wedding, take a read for yourself.

Advice Spotlight - Spring Themed Wedding

christmas brideAre you getting married around Spring time? Have you considered having a Spring / Easter or May Day theme?

We are not suggesting that you and your partner dress up in giant chick suits (although if you do, I want to see the photographs!) - but perhaps you could give Easter eggs as wedding favours, maybe have daffodils as button holes or have your bridesmaids carry Easter baskets filled with eggs, rather than a traditional posy. A bit nervous about your first dance - nominate 10 other guests and all of you dance around a maypole!

If a Spring themed wedding appeals to you, then read more

Your Wedding - Your Story

fay and paulIn this edition we feature the wedding of forum member Caroline, to her husband Andy, in our Your Wedding - Your Story section. Caroline and Andy had a fantastic Regency & Nautical theme to their big day!

You can read all about Caroline's wedding here.

If you would like your wedding featured in this section please let me know

The Queens Diamond Wedding Anniversary

the queen60 years ago on the 20th November 1947 Princess Elizabeth married her Prince.

It had been one of the worst winters on record and Britain was still in the throes of rationing.  In a nation of make doer’s this royal wedding was truly a remarkable day.

You can read the full article here.

Tip of the Issue

"Peel Off Lettering, For those making own invites"

If you are making your own wedding stationary and are planning on using stick on lettering how were you going to get a straight line, using a ruler? Well that may not be the best way, using a post-it note could make things a lot simpler for you.

Forum member Mamamammy (Jenny) posted this tip over on our forums, you can read the full advice here

Competition Time!

queen of the snow guestbookIn this edition we give you the chance to Win a hand made tiara worth £40 from Truly Tempting

Wedding Poll - Results

A short while ago we ran a poll on the Wedding Chaos website, we asked 1,060 brides and grooms who helped the most in planning their wedding, here are the results :

    1. Your future spouse - 30.2%
    2. Your parents - 24.5%
    3. Nobody helped - 23.8%
    4. Your friends - 11.5%
    5. A wedding planner - 6.9%
    6. Your in-laws - 3.1%

As most of the voters were forthcoming brides it's nice to see that the men were being so helpful :)

Word Search - A Bit Of Fun

For a little bit of fun I have produced this Word search - it includes lots of names of our forum members (their forum name, not real name). They are all members with over 400 posts - how many can you find? Let us know here. As a little reward we will send the first person to find all the names a box of chocolates!
