Wedding Anniversaries Part I

origami elephant

Most people are familiar with Silver and Gold wedding anniversaries, but few are familiar with their origins.

Many historians believe the tradition dates back as far as Medieval Times, with the origins beginning in Germany. Garlands made of silver and gold, representing the couple’s 25th and 50th wedding anniversary, were presented by the husband to his wife to celebrate the event.

Why the elephant? You can find out by reading the full article here.

Tip of the Issue

How to stop yourself slipping in your new shoes!

"Spray the underside of your shoe with hair spray it will stop you from slipping!" purpleshoe

"You can rub the bottom with sandpaper, this helps to add grip." crf250

"Buying dance shoes can also help prevent slippage (they have suede on the bottom). However, you might need a spare pair to wear for your photographs if it's likely to rain outside!" Morticia

If you have any great tips please let us know on the forum

Wedding Poll - Results

A short while ago we ran a poll on the Wedding Chaos website, we asked 953 brides and grooms whether they were planning on having a professional photographer, professional videographer, both or neither, at their wedding.

Here are the results :

    1. Professional Photographer - 50.5%
    2. Both - 32.5%
    3. Neither - 14.9%
    4. Professional Videographer - 2.1

You can read our write up of these results here.

Word Search - A Bit Of Fun

For a little bit of fun I have produced this word search - it includes the traditional gifts you should buy your partner during your first 10 years of marriage. There is one extra one as well, the photo is a modern alternative to one of the anniversary gifts... How many can you find? Let us know here.

And Finally...

Well, that was it - our sixth edition. We have tried to incorporate some of your suggestions following the first editions, and like before, I would welcome your comments, positive or negative (as long as constructive), so if you are one of the few people that are reading this bit, please let me know, either by reply, or via the forum here if you have any anything to say.

In fact, just to see how many people have read this far, respond to the forum thread with your favourite colour... don't say why, just add it to you comments, or post it on it's own - let's see how many people know what is going on!
