    Welcome To Our Newsletter

    bullet

Here is the 38th Edition of our newsletter - our first article is looking at the 'first dance', often dreaded by both the bride and the groom and always relished by the guests. We give you some advice on how to prepare and make the most of this one-off moment in the spotlight.

Are you planning on buying a gift for your partner to give them on the wedding day? Whether you are, or are not, you had better make sure your other half is doing likewise - getting it wrong would be a bad start to the day! If you are buying gifts, we have some great ideas and advice for you.

Grooms - have you ever thought with breaking tradition and taking your partners surname? It may be a great choice if your B2B is called Justine and your surname is Case... there are other reasons, read our advice for more information. Whilst we are talking grooms - if you have not planned your stag do yet, we take a look at Prague - a great place for a stag weekend.

Finally we take a look at why people elope - it's not just youngsters running off to marry without their parents permission - it is becoming more popular as a cost and stress saving way to tie the knot.

We hope the advice here helps out with your wedding planning.

    The First Dance

    first dance

It’s all part of the fairytale, once you are man and wife, your husband takes you into his arms and in front of all your friends, family and guests you gracefully dance together, never putting a foot wrong, showing everyone your love and perfect unison and proving that you are made for each other…… the perfect couple.

The first dance is the couple’s first official dance together as a married couple and traditionally they would dance to ‘their song’ or a song that they have chosen together.  All eyes will be on the couple and is classed as a wonderful moment for the new couple, and provides a great photo opportunity.

    Wedding Day Gifts for Partner

    gift for partner

This tradition may come as a bit of a shock to some bride and grooms, ‘what, along with everything else to organise, I have to think of a gift for my partner to open on the wedding day?’

Hopefully brides and grooms will hear about it before the eleventh hour - otherwise imagine a groom having a gift to open from his bride but the bride having nothing in return from her groom! (That is certainly not going to set the scene for a perfect day is it?)

Traditionally the groom would purchase his bride a piece of jewellery, something that she might wear on her wedding day such as a pearl necklace, diamond earrings, bracelet or a matching jewellery set of necklace, earrings and bracelet.

    Taking the Brides Surname

    signing pen

For centuries the tradition has been that the bride, upon marriage, will take the name of her new husband.

This is due to the belief that females ‘belonged’ and were the property of their father until their wedding day when the father would transfer her ownership (dower and any money or inheritance she may have) over to her new husband.  Taking on her husband’s surname would reflect this change in status.

It’s such an important thing for most brides (and grooms), taking her husband’s name and making it official that she is part of a couple and that they are joined in commitment as well as title.

    Stag Weekend in Prague

    prague

Prague, 'the city of 100 spires' is situated in the heart of Europe with the Czech Republic bordering Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland.  The city boasts over a million inhabitants within a 500km square.

The city has been home to emperors, kings, artists and astronomers and its beauty has inspired musicians such as Mozart and writers such as Kafka.

The city is steeped in history and architectural beauty, which is all mirrored in the surface of the swan filled Vltava River.

    Why Couples Elope

    elope

A wedding is about the bride and groom making a commitment to each other and most of the time this takes place in front of their loved ones, but sometimes a couple want to commit to each other alone.

A lot of friends and family members have a hard time understanding this so why is it that some couples forgo the big white wedding with all the trimmings to run off together and elope?

When you hear the word 'elope' most people would automatically think of a secret rendezvous between a young couple who are sneaking away and getting married in secret but nowadays there is no stigma attached to eloping and a lot of people are very open about it and inform everyone before hand so they are aware of where they are going and why.
